Welcome to my web site.  I am a counsellor and psychotherapist with over forty years' experience as a helping professional, thirty-five of these in private practice in Montreal.  I work with individuals and couples, and sometimes lead groups or workshops. I deal with such matters as:

  •  Enhancing self-understanding and self-esteem

  •  Overcoming self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving

  •  Womenís self-actualization

  • Gender- role issues

  •  Avoiding or ending abusive relationships

  •  Improving difficult relationships

  • Clarifying life choices and goals

  • Co-parenting after divorce

My approach integrates humanistic and feminist principles and Adlerian psychological theory.  In practice, this means that the goal of all my therapeutic work is the individualís growth in self-awareness, self-esteem and sense of purpose.

I view men and women as equally deserving of respect, dignity and freedom to choose how best to live.  I therefore think beyond sex- role stereotypes, and encourage all clients to develop their unique human potential in ways that best suit them.

My approach emphasises how people think and how they make choices in the here and now.  I help clients to change faulty or limited beliefs about themselves, to overcome discouragement,  and to develop realistic and positive goals. My style is open, direct and encouraging, and I treat the therapeutic encounter as a cooperative enterprise.
