How I Can Help
I am a Montreal counsellor and psychotherapist with over 45 years experience as a helping professional, and nearly 40 years in private practice. I help people to understand themselves better, improve their self-esteem, get rid of self-defeating patterns and develop more satisfying relationships. I prefer to emphasize how you think and make choices in the here and now, so that you can change faulty or limiting beliefs and overcome discouragement. My personal style is open, direct and encouraging.
My approach integrates feminist, humanistic and mindfulness perspectives. I work with individuals, couples, and sometimes groups; and with adolescents and adults of all ages. Apart from in-office one-hour sessions, telephone sessions can also be arranged.
I have also been a teacher in the fields of Social Work and Sociology, and have done professional writing related to issues of gender and self-actualization. I am very well-versed in women’s issues and the challenges of changing gender roles, and non-traditional family forms.
